Ordering is straightforward using our e-commerce enabled website.
Payment can be made by Credit or Debit Card or with a Paypal Account.
All payments are securely handled by PayPal who use advanced encryption technology and monitor every transaction, 24/7 to prevent against fraud and identity theft.
Please note that you do not need to have a PayPal account, you can simply select Pay with Credit Card at checkout and enter your Credit Card and address details.
For your convenience and security we would recommend creating a PayPal account, it is free and means you do not have to keep entering your address or card information every time you shop with an online retailer.
PayPal do not share your Credit Card details with anyone and they have a Buyer Protection Scheme that covers eligible online purchases when you use PayPal.
We have taken great care with the photography of all of the yarns featured on this website and used industry standard camera calibration software to ensure accurate colours have been captured.
However there may be variations in the actual colours depending upon the device or screen type or the lighting conditions under which it is viewed.
In addition there are sometimes slight variations in the dyeing process and we recommend that where critical colour matching is required it is best to purchase all the Yarn required at the same time, this means that it can be supplied from the same batch or dyelot.
KNOTS IN YARN
You may occasionally experience a knot in a ball of yarn, this is due to the spinning process where small “weavers knots” are used to produce long runs of yarn before it is wound into balls.
It is impossible to predict if you will have one or more knots in a ball of yarn, the industry guidelines are that it is acceptable to have up to three knots in one ball.
In reality you may have tens or hundreds of balls that have no knots but there is no guarantee.
Some knitters prefer to cut out the original knot and re-tie their own knot, just like joining to a new ball of yarn.
Poppy’s use a number of different delivery services including Royal Mail, Parcelforce and MyHermes depending upon the size and weight of the items ordered.
Poppy's will normally pack and dispatch your order the same or following day depending on the time of your order. On normal working week days, orders processed before 3pm will normally be depatched the same day.
However total delivery time will depend upon the actual delivery service chosen.
Typical delivery times for the UK Postal Services are:
First Class Post - Next Working Day - including Saturdays.
Second Class Post - Typically two or three working days - including Saturdays.
Parcelforce - Typically one to two days depending upon service chosen.
MyHermes is used for Free Delivery Orders and these may take 3 to 5 days to arrive.
You may select at checkout from the options available, however qualifying orders over £25 are delivered free of charge*. (UK Mainland only)
*MyHermes or Second Class Mail may be used for Free Delivery Orders and these may take between 3 to 5 days to arrive, the MyHermes courier will attempt delivery three times before returning the parcel to Poppy's as undeliverable, in this case an additional charge will be payable to cover the full cost of re-delivery. Certain items over 10kg or with large dimensions and those requiring special urgent delivery are not covered by the free delivery option.
Customers may choose to upgrade the shipping type to Priority Shipping at an additional cost.
Certain special items,for example some newly launched Colour Packs, may include priority shipping to ensure customers receive their order as soon as possible after the official release date.
We may split certain sized deliveries in order to make sure you get your items as quickly as possible or we may need to change the delivery service in certain circumstances. Poppy's reserve the right to change specified delivery options in order to provide expected service levels.
Poppy's cannot guarantee all delivery targets are met once the items have been handed over to third party couriers or postal services, however we carefully monitor providers to ensure a suitable level of service is maintained.
Currently we offer delivery services to Mainland UK addresses as well as France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Australia and the USA.
Payment is accepted in GBP only.
International Orders are sent by the UK Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed service, this utilises the local postal service in the destination country for the final delivery of your parcel.
International Parcels are restricted to a total weight of 2kg each, so larger orders may be split into a number of parcels, each parcel is charged separately, the total delivery charge is calculated at checkout. Occassionally it may be necessary to adjust shipping charges if the packed weight exceeds Post Office guidelines.
As an example packaging adds around 200g therefore the contents would need to be under 1.8kg, this equates to around 15 x 100g balls of yarn, or 30 x 50g balls.
Please note a will be required on delivery.
All our International Deliveries are sent in boxes to help protect the contents and ensure all your items arrive in the best possible condition.
The customs paperwork is attached to the parcel in a transparent document wallet, but please note Customs Authorities have the right to open any packages to confirm the contents and this may affect the packaging of the received parcel.
IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE:
For Overseas Orders please make sure you select your country using the LOCATION box at Checkout in order to see the correct overseas shipping prices.
(Any orders with incorrect country information will be cancelled and refunded.)
Please check the shipping method is International Tracked & Signed before checking out.
The International Shipping Rate we charge is less than the actual price we pay to Royal Mail for this service, in addition extra paperwork is required for customs clearances in both the UK and destination country.
Please note additional import duties or taxes may be added by some countries and these remain the responsibility of the buyer to pay to the relevant customs authorities.
International delivery times vary by country as they may be delayed in customs on arrival and the final delivery is by the local in-country postal service.
Typically International Post will take 10-15 days for most countries.
In more remote areas of larger countries delivery times may be slightly longer.
Please note we cannot guarantee International Parcel delivery times, customs clearances in certain countries can take significantly more time and while we do use a tracked service a parcel is only considered lost if it is not delivered after 30 days from the date of posting.
Customers have the right to cancel any goods ordered before the items have been dispatched.
In this case a full refund will be made.
Please be aware that goods may actually be dispatched on the same day they are ordered and as a result the cancellation period may be relatively short.
Once the goods have been dispatched you still have the right to cancel your order within fourteen days of receipt and return the items, at your own expense, preferably by a tracked delivery service within 14 days.

If any of the goods received from Poppys prove to be faulty a refund or replacement will be arranged.
Please contact us for a RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number prior to returning any goods to ensure return shipping arrangements can be made.
In this case a refund of the value of the order less any enhanced delivery costs, such as next day guaranteed delivery services, will be made once the returned items have been checked.
Certain items, for example Pattern Books and Software discs be returned, if they have been removed from their sealed packaging.
Promotion Code Terms And Conditions
Promotion codes are only valid for orders placed online.
Promotion codes entitle you, at the time of ordering, to a saving on a new order placed with Poppys of Holmfirth.
Poppys of Holmfirth reserves the right to decline to accept orders where, in its opinion, a promotion code is invalid for the order being placed.
Promotion codes are only valid on specific products while stocks last and may be withdrawn at any time.
Only one promotion code can be used per order.
There is no cash equivalent.
Promotion codes are not valid in conjunction with any other promotion. Offer is not valid on sale items or other discounted items.
Personal Promotion Codes must not be shared, the first use of a personal code cancels any further useage.
Certain Promotional Codes are conditional upon a minimum order spend, and any orders that do not meet the requirements may be cancelled.
In the event of product returns, refunds will be given for the amount used in the original purchase once the discount is applied, less any shipping, gift wrap or gift card costs charged on the original order.
In the event of part of the order being returned, the value of the discount applied on that order will be spread between the goods proportionately. The sum exceeding this value, less any shipping, gift wrap or gift card costs charged on the original order, will be returned to the customer.
The promotional discount will not be applied to replacement items, if the offer is still valid at the time of making a return - you should place a new order using the original promotional code.
In the event of any returns meaning that the order no longer qualifies for the promotion advertised, Poppys of Holmfirth reserves the right to deduct the value of the offer from the refund.
Free delivery offers apply to UK standard delivery only for orders over £25, after any discount has been applied, with the courier of Poppy's choosing.
Should any item be out of stock the promotional discount will not apply to any back ordered items.

Sale Terms And Conditions for Promotion Codes
Promotional codes cannot be used when purchasing sale items
Sale items are as described and may be ex-display items and show signs of handling, labels may be creased, scuffed, torn or missing and yarn balls may be slightly unravelled or tangled.
Returns are accepted on Sale Items if you are un-happy with your purchase, but you will be responsible for any return shipping and the orginal sale price will be refunded with a credit voucher redeemable only on Poppy's website.
Sale items are exempt from all other site offers and discounts.
The term Sale covers selected items on site only.
